This will be my last post for a while. Mostly because I am probably going to be quite busy in the next few weeks but also because I am pissed off completely. All this long while that I've been getting these anonymous comments I thought that they may be different people. One of them even gave him or herself a different anonymous name so I'm pretty sure they are different people. But I just found out last night that the person I thought was the main culprit is not. So I am very very confused and upset.
As I told my new friend, the person I met at the poker game that I wrote about last week, I probably wouldn't have been so forward and so open if I didn't think he was one of those anonymous people. So he thanks you, whoever you are. But I am fucking pissed the fuck off.

It is a rainy day in Oregon.
My play is over now. I'm a little bummed out. It'll be nice to have all my evenings and weekends free now but I always feel a little empty like school is out and I don't have any summer plans. I have made a new friend who will hopefully fill up some of my time. And I may go visit my folks this weekend because it has been a while since I've been home. And I did see Serenity. It was pretty great. I really really liked it. I wouldn't recommend it to just anyone but definitely to anybody who is reading this right now. Except my dad. I don't think he would like it too much. He'd like the first half but the second half would be a little too much for him. He says that about every movie.
I need to figure out what to do next.

Like Cats to a Bathroom
If it seems like I am posting a lot lately it's because I am. I'm a little manic. More than a little. Every few years or so when I feel like this I start to wonder if it is genetics or just my present circumstances that lead to acting and feeling all jittery and remote and yet more open and sharing than ever before. Like when I held myself up in my room on sunset avenue in arcata for hours on end making my "Going Big" journal and then finally came out and forced my roommates to read it all. Mainly, I am trying to distance myself from my love post because part of me wishes I had never written it and if I keep posting it won't be on my main page anymore but rather relegated to archives. So I have 23 minutes at the library computer until it locks up on me and I go see a movie. With all my recent sharing I really don't have a lot to say. But with my manic fingers typing away I actually have everything to say. About everything. So there is some risk involved there with saying more I will regret later when I read this next week. But mostly because it will end up like the stupid things you read in your junior high diary, not because it isn't worth documenting. So I won't talk about myself and that will take care of that.
I have been slowly, over months really, trying to listen to all the music Justin sent me. I finally pulled out the DeVotchKa album and I've been listening to it in my car to and from Talent. It is really great. Here is a website. DeVotchka. They look like they would be the best band to see live.
The first song on the album sounds like Tom Waits musically arranged a song for Roy Orbison to sing and then got a band of gypsies to back him. Basically. I've also been listening to The Black Rider, speaking of Tom Waits, which Justin also sent me. I've heard it before but I never bought it so now I own it and I can listen to it all I want. Pretty great. I still like Closing Time best.

Do I go to an early show in Medford if I get out of the house in time or do I go to a later show in Ashland and just drive to the theater for my last Saturday night performance after the movie. Life is filled with questions and semi trucks.

My theater resume. In case you want to hire me as an actor. Because I am sick of my job.
Changing the subject
I have recently been reflecting back on my career in the theater because I have been reevaluating what I want to get out of all this experience I have. I have thought of trying to become a dramaturgy because I think I would be really good at that and it would keep me involved in theater and use my skills but I know if I got out of acting I would miss it and would want to go back. Anyway, all this reflecting made me want to make a list of all the shows I've been in not including stupid school recitals, dance recitals, choir stuff, etc. Just real plays and shows that involved memorizing lines and blocking. Here is that list starting from the most recent. It took a lot longer than I thought it would to remember everything.
The Heidi Chronicles 2005
Judgment at Nuremberg 2005
The Boy Who Talks to Whales 2005
Carnival 2004
Blithe Spirit 2004
Toni Told Me Not To Tell You 2002
North 2001
Nuptial Flight 2001
Fast And Loose; Monkey Business 2000
The Rez Sisters 2000
The Last Exhibition 2000
Hunting Cockroaches 2000
Arcadia 1999
The Dance of the Vietnam Dragon 1998
Night of one acts 1996
The Music man 1996
A Christmas Carol 1995
Guys and Dolls 1995
A Christmas Carol 1994
The Wizard of Oz 1994
Julius Caeser 1994
You can't take it with You 1993
Romeo & Juliet 1993
Arsenic & Old Lace 1992
Charlotte's Web 1992
A midsummer night's Dream 1991
Kids Wild Show 1988
Charlotte's Web 1987
Paradox of Wild 1986
Kidstuff 1985
I think I am missing something but 30-some plays in 27 years is a pretty good run if you ask me. So I don't know. I guess if I ever do go back to school I should just try to do something with theater that isn't acting. Something more practical. Because I hate acting classes, mostly. I really liked directing classes and dramatic lit. I should do that. Of course what I really should do is just teach. Because you know what they say.
I found this on-line from this guy's portfolio. me in hunting cockroaches
He has some other pictures from productions at Humboldt that made me nostalgic. Joe was a very nice person. I think he got married to Elena and they lived happily ever after. I hope so.
This weekend is the last weekend of The Heidi Chronicles. I've actually had fun doing this one. It has been hard and the rehearsal process and run have been long but I still like the play and the people in it and it is nice to get laughs every night.
Oh, and boy howdy do I ever think I am great. However my recent craziness was summed up well by a jpr interview I heard this morning. This author said that she was crazy after her husband died and the interviewer thought that her behavior was normal given the circumstances and she said that her craziness was probably just a perceived loss of control that she wasn't used to. I'm no control freak except when it comes to my own emotions and my ability to think logically and any loss of control for me does make me totally crazy. So I am attempting slowly to regain my composure because crazy is not a pretty color for someone with my complexion.

mandy goth love
So I am such a freak. I am embarrassed by my freakishness. My face is red. And flushed. Because I have a total immature teenaged mandy-like crush on a virtual stranger. I played poker for like maybe the 5th time in my life on Saturday night. My brother invited some people from work and there is an intern where he works that came. And I love him now. I am so crazy. I figured he would be the sort of person who would have a blog and I found out, after extensive googling, that he does on livejournal but I'm not going to link to it because I don't want anybody to even know anything about him because he is sort of a weirdo. I guess I shouldn't say weirdo but he is definitely into some things I am not nor have I ever had the desire to be into. But he is also a scrabble champion. So you have to take the good with the weird. Anyway, I totally won the poker game. I won 10 dollars which is pretty good when you are just playing with nickels, dimes and quarters. And for the first time playing poker I actually enjoyed myself. Mostly because I didn't know what to do and my special friend was very patient and knowledgeable. And I was winning. It's interesting because I haven't really had these sorts of inane crush-like feelings for a long time unless you count coffee shop guy which I don't since I don't think he even knows my name and we never had a conversation that wasn't about coffee or the weather or my debit card. He does however seem to wear a lot of black a lot of silver jewelry which is not something I am usually into. But then again, he admits to laughing at the family guy in his blog so I can see glimpses of a normal smart interesting even boring person somewhere inside him that is itching to come through and I think I am just the person to bring that out. He might be smarter than me though which I have a hard time with. I doubt it. But all the things I am smartest at like, you know, words and stuff, like, he is like, totally really good at too, you know what I'm saying? And he is tall. Which I don't normally go for either. I didn't know he was tall until he stood up though. Then I became intimidated. God this post is asinine. I'm sorry. Next time I'll go back to talking about something that will make people more comfortable to read like my menstrual cycle or how much I love listening to gay singer-songwriters. I swear to god some days I can't fucking stand what kind of person I've become but it was totally unavoidable. You know?

Odds and Ends. Bods and Rear Ends.
I felt like writing all day today. Unfortunately I don't have a specific topic in mind. Sometimes I think of things to write about and then I even think them out-loud in a writerly sort of form. And then I get to thinking about it later and I don' t like the idea at all. Like I thought about writing something about how smart I am that would be funny and self depricating and illustrate how stupid smart women can be. But then I thought that was a little too sort of vain or something and I would probably mess it up and make myself sound like a total ass. Of course, this is a blog which is a completely self centered endeavor and not very many people even read it so I should feel perfectly comfortable writing about whatever the hell I feel like but then that just seems like a waste of time if I'm not even happy with what I end up spitting out. And furthermore, it isn't like I edit what I've written so if I start out writing something that I think is a waste of time and stupid I usually end up just deleting it or posting it without a 2nd thought. So there's that to consider. This is probably a really old picture of my aunt I found by googling Laurie Jones. My aunt has a blog now. My aunt toony baloony. That isn't her real name. Her real name is Laurie and I suppose a lot of people call her that. But I don't. I've always called her Tuney. I don't know the whole story behind the name but since my aunt isn't really sure what she should write about in her blog I suggest that she write about that name and where it came from and what it means to her now that she is a 50 year old woman with a stupid nick name like Tuney. It might be an interesting blog entry. Names are interesting stories usually. Sort of. Some of them at least. Not mine, really. I told her I would put up a link to her site on my page and so if I have done that you would probably see it on the right-hand side of your screen. I think my sister should make a blog. It would probably just end up a baby blog but babies are okay so that wouldn't be too bad.
I've been listening to The Decemberists again. Obsessively. I bought a new stereo. I had the same stereo since I was a junior in high school. I got it for christmas that year 1994 so it is over 10 years old. Crazy. It still works just fine but I mean, christ, who has the same cheap stereo for forever? Me. So I got a fancy 5 cd changer thing that plays mp3's so I can listen to the discs that just sent me with 8million albums on them without using the cd's that I burned from them. But whenever I listen to said discs I get stuck on the Decemberists and just listen to the same songs over and over again because they are so awsome. If I made movies I would make movies of their songs. If I could draw I would draw pictures of their songs. If I took pictures I would dress dogs and cats up in costumes and take pictures of them acting out their songs. They are just great story kind of songs. I love story songs. And songs about boats and pirates and sailors and stuff. And I'm beginning to like ships more and more. Mostly because of my stupid crazy brother who has big gold and brass plates with ships embossed on them covering the walls of our living room. They come in various shapes and sizes much like pizza sizes you see up on the wall when you go to order pizza. From personal to extra large. I found this picture on the world wide web as an example. Imagine 20 of these all over your walls in varying shapes and sizes. Actually, just varying sizes. All circles.
There are also several ship pictures and other ship/nautical paraphanalia in almost ever inch of the house. If it isn't one of my nephews toys and it is in our house, chances are it has a ship on it. But they are pretty neat to look at.

Interesting Flacts and Fligures
I don't have any doggy pictures yet. I'm a bad bad dog owner. He pretty much looks exactly like this however. Only with blue colar. And our grass isn't as nice.
I thought some of you might like this. My dad got it from his cousin or some family member out on the east coast. I don't know where he got it from. He may have written it himself but my dad didn't know.
Quotes from Republicans when Clinton committed troops to Bosnia:
“You can support the troops but not the president.”
–Rep Tom Delay (R-TX)
“Well, I just think it’s a bad idea. What’s going to happen is they’re
going to be over there for 10, 15, maybe 20 years.”
–Joe Scarborough (R-FL)
“Explain to the mothers and fathers of American servicemen that may
come home in body bags why their son or daughter have to give up their
life?”
–Sean Hannity, Fox News, 4/6/99
“[The] President . . . is once again releasing American military might
on a foreign country with an ill-defined objective and no exit
strategy. He has yet to tell the Congress how much this operation will
cost. And he has not informed our nation’s armed forces about how long
they will be away from home. These strikes do not make for a sound
foreign policy.”
–Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA)
“American forei! gn policy is now one huge big mystery. Simply put, the
administration is trying to lead the world with a feel-good foreign
policy.”
–Rep Tom Delay (R-TX)
“If we are going to commit American troops, we must be certain they
have a clear mission, an achievable goal and an exit strategy.”
–Karen Hughes, speaking on behalf of George W Bush
“I had doubts about the bombing campaign from the beginning . . I
didn’t think we had done enough in the diplomatic area.”
–Senator Trent Lott (R-MS)
“I cannot support a failed foreign policy. History teaches us that it
is often easier to make war than peace. This administration is just
learning that lesson right now. The President began this mission with
very vague objectives and lots of unanswered questions. A month later,
these questions are still unanswered. There are no clarified rules of
engagement. There is no timetable. There is no legitimate definition
of victory. There is no cont! ingency plan for mission creep. There is
no clear funding program. There is no agenda to bolster our
over-extended military. There is no explanation defining what vital
national interests are at stake. There was no strategic plan for war
when the President started this thing, and there still is no plan
today”
–Rep Tom Delay (R-TX)
“Victory means exit strategy, and it’s important for the President to
explain to us what the exit strategy is.”
–Governor George W. Bush (R-TX)
Funny thing is, we ended that war without a single American killed in
action.
Last night I was going back and forth between House and My name is Earl and then The Office came on and oh my goodness it was difficult to just watch one show. On the one hand, I love new season time but on the other hand it is hard to choose between the ones I know I like and these new fangled shows. So I end up missing bits and peices of both because I get caught up and forget to change back to other one. It is just AWFUL. I tell you what. At least the people displaced by the hurricane who don't have TVs don't have to go through this mix of heaven and hell.

Doggs and Bloggs
I have a dog! Well, not really. My nephew has a dog. Well, actually, my brother has a dog. Chachi is his name and he is a puppy puppy doggy doggy. He is a chocolate lab and he is very sweet and very cute and a very gooooood dooooooggy. But he has a pooping problem. And a peeing problem. But who doesn't? He is learning quickly though. He has very pretty greeny hazel eyes that I can gaze into for hours on end.
In other news, my grandma sent this joke to me, as grandmothers are want to do. "Q: What is George Bush's opinion on Roe vs Wade? A: He doesn't care how people get out of new orleans." Ha Ha Ha!!! Also, my aunt tuney baloony's friend Charlie Varley (his real name, not my aunt's real name) is a photographer and he was taking pictures in new orleans during all this stuff. He sent my aunt this really great email that she sent us that was a very detailed account of some of the stuff going on and now one of his pictures is on the cover of newsweek. Isn't that cool? I met him when I was living with my sister down in Palo Alto. We drove up to Berkely and went out to eat with him. I don't think he liked me very much.
Also, I applied for this totally awsome job that I totally hope I get. It is more money, better benefits and fewer hours. How could I pass that up??? Well? How could I? It is as a building coordinator for the education building at the hospital. They do all the seminars and support groups and stuff there. They have a medical library and a big lecture hall and I would be scheduling all the meetings and stuff. It sounds like fun. Good clean hospital job fun.
The 2 reviews for the play I'm in now say that I "effectively" portray my roles and that I "confidantly" portray my roles. Glowing reviews, I tell you what. I'm never acting again.

Plop Plop
Justin decided it was time for me to post again and I thought, "Well darnitall if he isn't right!" So here goes something. Hmmm... We got a new phone system at work today and it is awsome! Awsome enough to make me not hate my job as much for now at least. So there's that, which is nice. My play opens this next week. Friday is the official opening night but we have an invited dress on Monday and two previews on Wed and Thurs of next week. My aunt katty the nun is going to go see it with my folks on Sat. 9/3. I haven't seen aunt katty since I was like a sophomore in highschool. I like her though. She is a nun. I wasn't even baptised. It'll be an interesting visit. A little catholocism never hurt anyone if taken in small doses.
I saw pictures of the superdome roof falling down on poor wet people trying to sleep during a hurricane. Now they are being bussed to the astrodome. Good thing we have a lot of domes in the south. I had a very scary dream the other day that there were huge waves breaking just south of where I live and we could see the water rushing in. It was very brown dirty water because it had passed over like hundred of miles to get to where I live. But we were all seeking out higher ground and some guy jumped up into a tree and broke off a big branch for me when I said that I can't swim very well. And then this really huuuuuge wave came up over the horizen and I said, "oh my god, we are all going to die." and it was a really weird feeling. Anyway, I woke up and I was realy disoriented and confused because it was so real and frightening.
It looked just like this only the water was brown.
Let me tell you, water moves really fast and is really scary. I should know, I was in a dream tsunami. Which reminds me. I had this boyfriend a while back. I won't name any names but lets just call him Sandy Bleaster. He used to have nightmares about tsunamis all the time. How funny. I used to think that was the weirdest thing to have scary dreams about but I don't remember having a dream that was this real and scary in a long long time.
Anyway, I hope all the people I know who know people in New Orleans or thereabouts are okay and that the people that they know are okay and that everyone knows where everyone is. Maybe Bush will start a war agains Global Warming Eco-Terrorism and we can send those hurricanes back to the dark ages like we done did to all those A-rabs. Shouldn't there be a way for us to discipate hurricanes while they are over the ocean before they hit land? Can we H-bomb them or something?
I'm reading Middlesex by some greek guy about some greek people. It is really good. It is really making my want to go to Greece, specifically Cyprus. For, lets say, something like, oh I don't know, a wedding????

Marigold Wins
So Marigold wins the bio contest because she is the only one who entered. Interestingly enough her bio for me would fit several of the people I know who did not enter the bio contest. Good for nothing sacks of crap. Here is the winning entry:
"Ms. Murphy is an indecisive, foot-dragging, aimless, lazy, uncooperative, quibbling, sloppy and even slovenly git."
That is well under 30 words. I could even add a little to the end. Like, "She was recently seen in Judgement at Nuremberg, stinking up the stage mandypants style."
So congratulations Marigold. You win 2 free tickets to see The Heidi Chronicles at the Camelot Theater in Talent, Oregon during the month of September. I suggest you make your reservations now. Even though you stole it. Stealer. Sneak. Slav.
Here is a funny link with an even funnier picture of my dad. In case anybody out there needs a good play to put on.
My Dad
I don't know where he got that outfit. I think he had to borrow it or rent it or something.

Bio
I wanted to post this in the previous post but I forgot. I thought it would be funny to see what other people come up with as a bio for me that is 30 words or less to go into the program for the play.
"Hi

for your ok or revision deadline is Friday 8/12/05
If you do it on Word Processor please copy and paste into email."

Family Foto Follies!!!
Left to right standing: Gerald P. Murphy, his daughter Marya, his wife Nicole, his other daughter Mandy and his mother in law Laurie. Pyramid of Danger bottom to top: Myles, Jack, Ailsa Agnieska.
OH MY!
So, anyway. As I was saying. I didn't move to San Diego. I haven't done anything. I am all talk and no action, Jackson. And that's the way like it. I am in Yreka, Ca. right now with my family. My immediate family. It's funny because I always think that the last time I am just hanging out with my mom and dad and brother and sister will be the last time that will ever happen what with wives and husbands and exwives and significant others, etc. But then here we are just us again. For probably the last time. Not including my nephew and new neice though. They don't count. My sister's husband decided to stay home an extra day or two for reasons no one will explain to me or if they have explained it the explanation has not been to my liking. Oh no. Not sufficient or reasonable or logical in the least. He just did, I guess. Wanted Marya to have some time with us with the new baby. It seems fishy. But that's all I'll say about that because people do not like me to mention things that aren't being mentioned. I've already said too much.
I've been pretty busy lately. With work and the new play I'm rehearsing for. The Heidi Chronicles. It is a very well written play and the first thing I've been in for a while that I actually enjoy. Work is keeping me very busy. I had a sort of promotion to Scheduling Coordinator when I had my last pay raise at my two year anniversary and at the time I thought it was just for my ego but it has actually increased my work and responsibilites in ways I didn't expect like making the agendas and chairing our weekly scheduling meetings as well as making more decisions. About incisions. On incisers. That is a joke from The State. It is an inside joke to those of my pals who read this who are heads of state. I was going to call them State Heads, but I think Heads of State is funnier. I don't blindy go through the mouth for every dental procedure. This dead monkey without a brain could do that!
I've seen some movies. Boy howdy, have I ever. I bought The Dreamers and Elephant for $5 each at Hollywood video. I'd seen the dreamers before but not Elephant. It is pretty good. I actually really really liked it a lot but I'm not sure how crazy other people might feel about it so I'll just say it was pretty good. I looove the Dreamers. I saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Wedding Crashers on the same day a couple weekends ago and really liked them both. I laughed all the way through Wedding crashers like I haven't in a long time for a funny movie. I can't even remember the last time I laughed that much in a movie. I saw Cinderella Man. And some others I can't remember. I've been listening to a lot of music. I've been replaying the Hobbit and the sims bustin' out. I named my guy on the sims Racist Jones but he is not racist at all. AT ALL. It's like he is tolerant of anyone who comes knockin' on his dog house door. What can you do. Sims these days, I swear. I'm reading book 7 of the wheel of time series, book 18 thousand of the Wizard's first rule series, and I'm starting to mix my dork fantasy crap characters up in my head. It is fucking hot. Like triple digits over the last 3-4 weeks.
This is what happens when you don't post for a while. You just start typing out mundane run of the mill everyday joe kind of crap from the crapmill of my fingers and call it a day. Another day. Hopefully I'll be glad some day that I wrote about where I was and what I was doing because that will really bring me back. So I have to post some awsome picture of something. Like this one taken today of my dad and some girl behind him.
Awsome!!!!!!!!

One Good Turn Deserves Another
Leggo My Sandy Eggo
The title has nothing to do with this post. I just like that phrase. I don't really even know what it means. The picture does. So Justin has totally thrown me for a loop by announcing that there is job opening where he works and I should apply for it. Of course, he didn't really think I would take him seriously because it is in San Diego and I would have to like apply today and start working like right away but gosh almighty does it sound like a great idea to me right now. I could just move to san diego and have a job and get an apartment and do theater down there where the theater scene is pretty awsome rather than up here where it is fairly paltry and filled with people over 50 mostly.
Here is the job announcement: The Journal of the American College of Cardiology seeks Editorial Assistant to work in its scientific journal editorial office in San Diego. Entry level position involves working with online system in all phases of manuscript processing from submission to production. Attention to detail a must. Position also requires solid communication, time management and computer skills. Send resume to Glenn Collins at jaccsd@acc.org. EOE M/F/D/V
The funny thing is, I've always thought about getting into editorial stuff. I come from a family of editors and I was an english major but all my work experience has been in the medical field. I happen to work now in a cardiology office so my cardiology medical terminology is pretty good but I really don't enjoy having to talk to patients and answering phones constantly and all the other stuff that comes with a high patient contact medical office job. I think it would be good opportunity to try to break into a different field while still using all the stupid medical info I know now. I wish there was a magic button I could push that would move my life down to southern california so I could aggressively pursue this but I just don't think it is feasable right now. I am going to regret not trying to do it. Dammit. It isn't often that something lands in your lap that is so perfect. Also, not very many people know this but when Andy Feaster and I were living together and talking about long term plans and whatnots, we very seriously considered moving to San Diego. I wanted him to try to get into their masters program for directing because they have one of the bestin the country down there. I daydreamed about living in san diego for like a year and even looked at apartments on line and stuff. Anyway, I feel very conflicted about this.
I also turned 27 yesterday and so the idea of moving somewhere else and trying to become a real person in a big city is very appealing to me right now.

Crazy Drunken 4th of July Email to Justin and Steven Two Days Before My 27th Birthday:For Posterity
I Sent this email to justin and steve earlier today and as I got half way through it, as you will read, I decided to just write what I was thinking about writing about on my blog and then just copy and paste it so I wouldn't have to write a whole bunch of other crap. And since I am drunk, I will say this: I love marigold's friend Sara. I think she is awsome and I think her blog is awsome. And I love the Fourth of July. And there was something else but I can't remember what it was.
Steve and Justin, mostly justin,
I really really really really really loooove the decemberists. Too
much. Too fast. I think I might already be burnt out on them. Oh
well. I like the guy's voice. I like the weird, english, irish,
pirate affectation he has like he is literally from a land not unlike
our own but not like our own. I am drunk while I am writing this.
Not completely but enough so bear with any typos and/or rambling.
Rambling such as the fact that I am drunk which is a totally
unecessary detail. I've really only had a bear and a half. A beer
and a h alf. I left it bear because that looked funny. I had a bear
and a half. Ha!!!!The bear I am drinking, since justin recently wrote
about beers on his blog, is clever. It is called Shastafarian and it
is a beer from Weed. It is a beer from the stock of Weed Ales
actually and the bottle cap says something funny on it but I have to
go get it and read it because I can't remember it. Here it is. It
says, Try Legal Weed. I'm glad people in weed are finally
capitalizing on the name of the town by selling tshirts and beer. The
bottle has a picture of the weed city entrance welcoming thing. It is
similar to when you would drive into The Gatewayto the REdwoods on 101
but I can't remember the name of that town. I think it also started
with a W. Watkinsville. Waltertown. Wilkesbourough. What the fuck
is the name of that town? North of Ukiah??? I was in Ukiah a couple
weeks a go. But I can't really go into that whole story. Anyway, the
bottle has one of those signs and in the background are the mountains,
mount shasta for instance, but over mount shasta is a black dredlocked
man's face superimposed over the mountain. Shastafarian. Get it?
the whole bottle tells a story. How fascinating. I think I am going
to copy this email and paste it into my blog. How's that for parlor
tricks? I just wrote a few sentences and deleted them all because
they were stupid. They were about a movie I want to write. So I do
edit myself. That proves it. Speaking of weed. I might steal some
of my dad's weed and smoke it. I wouldn't really do that because I
don't do illegal drugs, wink wink. Generlaly speaking I don't though.
Generally speaking, that is. Backspace is so proactive and for such
a lazy person as me, I'm surprised I use it as much as I do. The
point is, I watched I heart huckabees today and I am TOTALLY going to
read up on my existentialism. Remember that play I did, Hunting
cockroaches? Did justin see that? I know steve did but I"m not sure
if justin did or not. Anyway, that play had a lot of references to
kafka and shit and was the only time in my life that I was really
exposed to existential thoughts and ideas and writers, etc. But I was
only like 22 or 23 or something and I just wasn't interested. But
now, I think I am interested. Or I could be. Or I should be. But I
don't want my existential period of life to completely be tied and
linked and traced back to a movie like I heart hucakabees so I really
need to look into some legitimate writers and stuff or I will always
feel like an asshole when I talk about kafka and all I am really
thinking about is one of the 6 movies jude law made in the year 2005.
Or 2004. Whatever. I listened the song of kevin's band that you
sent me, justin. I actually liked it and I am loathe to admit it but
this was EXTREEEEMELY surprising to me. I didn't like it in the sense
that I would want to own an album but I was impressed Number 1 by the
production values and Number 2 by the sound of kevin's voice not being
really recognizable to me until about 30 seconds into the song. I
have to qualify this mini review, however, by saying that I did not
actually listen to the whole song. I got the idea and that was
enough. Also, I wish to god I could go down the second week in july
and visit with you and alicia and will and johanna but that is just
not in the cards right now. First of all, I am fucking broke. Second
of all, I have taken a bunch of time off work for really hardly any
reason at all and have no PTO left. Not to mention all the work I
need to do at work. Don't even get me started about work. Maybe I
will write in my blog one day what I do for a living and how
ridiculous it is. To do. As a job. It's fucking ludicrous.
RiCOCKulous, as my friend andy rydzewski would say. Awsome. This is
the most awsome email I have ever sent. I am going to reply to
everything in the previous email you sent that I have not addressed
yet because I have been selfishly ranting on and on about things to
satisfy my own fucking ego. Which is why I think I could actually
write that movie that I described in the part that I had to delete
earlier. But I need to get another beer first. You won't even read
all this, will you? I wouldn't. I have the other beer now. Empty
beer bottles really do look like dead soldiers, don't they? You wrote
that you and danny hung out just the two of you for an afternoon in
humboldt. That must of been weird. for both of you. That guy was
strange but the two of you alone in a room together ups the strange
quotent to a fairly large degree. Mainly because you are both filled
with non-sequiters. They are coming out of your ears, the two of you.
which is probably why alicia can relate better to both of you rather than you to each other.
Maybe. Not that you are alike, really, you and danny but you both
have similar qualities.
That's about it. I could go on, of course. I always can. I am very
good lately at thinking and typing and writing. For some reason.
Boredom, probably. I will of course have to write a prologue and
epilogue to this email when I post it on my blog so that it will make
sense to me when I read again in a few months.
EPILOGUE PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED:
So I sent that email and there are no takeseesbacksees in cyberland so what is done is done and at least now I have my drunken ramblings immortalized for my own future viewing. As in, tomorrow morning when I am sober. That will be awsome. Luckily, there are takeseesbacksees in blogland an I can always delete this post if i am disgusted by my own candor/shallowness. Nothing worse than being honest and realizing that your honestly is totally inane and shallow. And insipid. although I don't think I need to worry about that. Inanity yes, insipity no.
This was either the best or the worst 4th of july ever. I can't tell yet. I watched the 4th of july parade in Ashland, Oregon, as I have done since forever. Not since the day I was born because I was actually just short of a year old when I watched my first one but ever year since then I have seen it. I still like it a lot. I almost missed it this year because of poor planning and disallusionment.
As an afterthought, literally, I just want to report that I am in another play now. I was cast in The Heidi Chronicles. I play a few different roles, one pretty good one. And I am looking forward to being in a play with ideas and questions that I actually like. It has been a while.
Oh, and Willits was the name of that town. And I'm pretty sure it is the place with the sign that says The Gateway to the Redwoods.

Ronery
CRAZY EYED BOTTLE HEAD FACE WITH STAIN ON SHIRT: A PORTRAIT
I am a very solitary type of person. I'm really most at home and comfortable alone with my thoughts and a book or a movie or driving. Especially driving and listening to music. But lately, probably due to hormones, I have felt the tug of the old social firefly I like to think I used to be. I wasn't ever really, but I did have friends and crowds and cliques and phone numbers and more people I felt beholden to spend time with then I have ever cared to since. I read an entry on one of my college friend blogs that had some old pictures and my friend Steve had commented that looking at the pictures reminded him of when good friends weren't digital and that really hit the nail right on the head there. I used to not only have friends I liked, I could pick and chose which ones I liked more and who I would rather spend time with. It takes me a long time to get to know someone well enough that the idea of hanging out with them doesn't sicken me. But there are a few people in the world I wish I could just call up and say, "hey, lets go see batman", or, "lets drive somewhere far away just to eat lunch somewhere and then drive home the same day." That's the kind of stuff I enjoy doing alone but that I wouldn't mind having someone else there for conversation. Anyway, I have taken to being slightly more friendly when I meet someone I think might be interesting. Normally if I meet someone who I think is cool I avoid eye contact and try to look as bored and disinterested in talking to them as I possibly can. Maybe now I'll try to even ask them a question. Like, where'd you get those shoes? Or, have you read this book? I'm not that great at inane questions. I tend to grill people when I really want to know something. I could move to Savannah and get an apartment right next door to marigold and Steve and be like Larry on three's company.
anyway, none of this information is new. I think I've even written about this very topic in this very blog. I just have to remind myself every so often that I did like people at one point and some of those people are still alive and living in the lower 48 states of these here united and I could actually call them or write a letter or even just an email or go visit them all over the country but probably I'll just go see the sisterhood of the traveling pants by myself so that no one will make fun of me and so I don't have to wait for some cocksucker to get their popcorn and shit and then argue over where to sit when I always sit in the 2nd or 3rd row and they always sit in the back and they don't like watching previews and they want to talk through the opening credits and then what the hell are we supposed to do when the movie is over? Discuss it? Fuck that shit, yo.
I would like to thank some people here. Thanks to my friends Justin and alicia for sending me surprises, my friends steve and marigold for sending me a Christmas card, my old friend from high school trish for calling me when she was in town and for sending me a postcard from Japan. My friend Becky
for also sending me a postcard from Japan and generally sending me postcards from wherever she is. Thanks to my friend Andy rydzewski for sending me a DVD he made. Thanks to my friend jim shelley for keeping me on his email list all these years though we really don't even know each other. Thanks to Will and Joanna in advance, my friends, for hopefully getting married some time in the future thus keeping faith alive that I may see some old friends again. Thanks to my friend Arron for starting an interesting blog for me to read. Thanks to these people and others for trying to keep in touch, I wish I could repay the favor some day.

Titillating Title
I think that my last blog entry title was so good that I will never have a blog title that is better. How sad. Usually I write the title first and then the entry and sometimes I'll go back and change the title later if it is wildly off the subject of what I actually wrote about. But usually not.
I am in sunny Yreka, California this evening after driving home from sunny Sunnyvale, California where I met my little baby neice Ailsa. She is just a little tiny little baby. I drove through a pretty big rainstorm that lasted from Redding to Weed which is like an hour drive. It was really weird to have a storm that big and cold weather like it is now at the end of june. Very strange indeed.
Ummmm... I saw Batman Begins this weekend. It totally kicked ass and it ruled also. And I think I would have liked it even if I wasn't a huge fan of Christian Bale. I am not as big a fan as I used to be, sadly. In college I hosted a Christian Bale movie marathon. I am such a fucking dork. But now all those dorks who came to it can be like, "oh yeah, I've seen almost all his films, he is very talented. I knew batman would be good when I heard he signed on." Like the bullshit bullshitters they are. I also watched the Machinest on DVD yesterday and it was not the best movie I've ever seen but Christian Bale was in it. I saw him on the Charlie Rose program being interviewed with christopher nolan (batman director guy) and he said he lost 63 pounds to play the guy in the machinest and when it was over he gained 100 pounds back and then had to lose weight again to play batman. The funny thing about this was that he said it all with an american accent. Then I watched the special features on the machinest and he did all his interviews on that with an american accent. What the fuck? He is Welsch. He is a pasty english actor voice face and why is he talking in an american accent? WHY CHRISTIAN BALE????? I think he reads my blog. I sense his eyes. "reading" me, you might say. You might.... I think this picture is why they thought of him for Batman.
I have to watch Newsies when I get home. If you've never seen Empire of the Sun, go watch it right now. It is the best acting that guy is ever going to do and that is saying a lot.
I just found this quote on IMDB from old CB:
On the "Fresh Air with Terry Gross" radio interview first aired June 13, 2005, he admitted to Gross that because Batman is "such an American icon," he had decided not to perform his promotional interviews for the movie Batman Begins (2005) in his natural mixed Welsh/British accent. He instead spoke to Gross in an almost-inflectionless mid-American accent, only revealing his dialectic roots with a few words.

Media Nazi Now Has Outreach Program
My friend Justin is sometimes referred to as the media nazi because he has a tendancy to try to control what music, movies, tv, magazines, books, etc that people are viewing or listening to in his presence. And he wants you to REALLY listen to it or REALLY watch this one part. So he sent me all this really awsome stuff in the mail the other day from him and alicia's collection of awsome stuff. I was so excited. I was telling my brother that this is further proof that I have friends and he has none. His only friend from work just had his 2nd DUI and has to go to jail. What a loser. Here is what I received in my package from heaven:
Stella Shorts- Some of The State folks, my favorite folks, sketching it up sketch comedy style. Apparently there will be a comedy central version soon. As I do not have cable I was not aware of this. One more reason to get cable.
Waiting for Guffman - I love this movie.
American Movie - I also really like this movie. My brother hasn't seen it so we will probably watch this sometime this weekend. I saw it in the theater I think when I lived in arcata.
Citizen Ruth - The only alexander payne movie I haven't seen. I can't wait to see it. I really like that guy.
A Dvd of Calexico in concert - Justin apparently jizzes in his pants over this band. Apparently.
He also sent discs with mp3's on them with these bands:
The Handsome Family, Calexico, M.Ward, Andrew Byrd, The Decemberists, The Be Good Tanyas, Weird Al Yankovic, some guy named Hamburger, David Bowie, Devotchka, Gogol Bordello (I think this is a very clever band name), Tin Hat Trio, the Team America Soundtrack, The Life Aquatic Soundtrack (more Bowie!!), Robert Crumb and his cheap Sult Serenaders, and Tom Waits: The Black Rider (I have always wanted this album since I first heard about it)
I feel like I've gotten a treasure, a veritable pop culture treasure. I also got my new Mr. Show Dvd's from netflix with the 3rd season. That show is pretty funny. I am going to burn a bunch of cds for my trip down to the bay area next week. I need to buy one of those cd players with an adapter for my car since I only have a tape player in my car and I don't feel like making a bunch of new tapes. I bet I can get one of those for really cheap nowadays.
Speaking of Nazi's, this is in the program for Judgement at Nuremberg and as I have rarely contributed to the political blog that marigold and some of her peeps have, I would like to post this because I think it is interesting and pertinent.

Hate Mail
I was so excited to get my first anonymous random hatemail from some person I don't think I even know. This was posted today on an entry from October.
At 3:10 PM, Anonymous said...
"wow you suck big time you hate hippies cause your to damn lame to be one! and ps did i mention your lame and im a white chick w/dreadlocks.wow things i hate let me think...... they all sort of point to you!!wowww"
It was in response to my saying that I hate hippies in the post about things I hate. This really makes me hate hippies a lot less.
I don't know why people block anonymous posts. I think this is awsome.

Six Feet Asunder
I love the television program six feet under. I bought season three on dvd recently. I already have 1 and 2 and I think four is out now too so I need to get that as well after I watch season 3. It is so good.
I got a raise at work. A pretty good one. And a bonus, which is pretty nice. The insurance situation I wrote about before hasn't really changed. They are still talking about changing it but we won't know for sure until july so I can hang on for a little bit longer but I am still going to take the mail man test.
I am going down to sunny sunnyvale california next week to visit my little neice and I'll probably spend a day and maybe a night in san francisco while I'm there. I think that would be fun. We'll see. Her name is Ailsa. Pronounced Ale-Suh. Don't ask me where it came from or why but I kinda like it. I can say "Ailsa Smellsa lot." I wonder if anything interesting is going on in san fransciso while I'm there. I should check that out.

Happenings and Doings
BABIES BABIES BABIES BABIES BABIES BABIES BABIES
BABIES WITH NO NAME GO TO HELL
So it has been a while but I've had my hands full, what with working and being in a play and being AUNT MANDY FOR THE 2ND TIME! The little baby that my sister was carrying inside of her came out on saturday the 28th day of this lovely lusty month of may. She is a girl, which we had already established through science and a process of elimination. She is still nameless and therefore aimless. Aimless Adams. My sister already has this site up to view pictures but I will warn you that there is some bloodiness and some nudity so if you are a prude or prone to sicking up I would maybe think twice.
I got a new bed yesterday at Mattressland. If you lived in medford you would know this place because it is famous for its one note one word jingle. "Mattressland!" I bought a mattress and box springs for $230 which was a pretty good deal what with the memorial day sales. And I had $230 dollars in my pocket which would either go towards a new bed or $230 dollars worth of Pudding to rub my ass in. A La, Barry and Lavonne from the State. Actually, they had $240 dollars worth of pudding. Which is a little bit more pudding than I would have but there is just one of me and there were two of them. I also went to the mall, to Linens and Things and Whatnots and Beyond and bought a new down comforter just in time for summer. I got a Duvet set, which included a duvet and 2 shams and is not pronounced Doo-vet like some of you ingormouses out there may think but is actually pronouced Doo-vay. I learned this yesterday from the sales person. Also, shams are pillow cases. I learned this when I opened up the duvet set and there were 2 pillow cases inside. I am in heaven now with my new bed and comforter. I also rearranged my room and it is much better, roomier, and nicer now.
I was going to be in the next show at the theater I'm working with now which is a musical called Children of Eden but I have decided not to. I'll be gone for a week in june to see the new baby, amino acid, and it also runs through my birthday and the 4th of july and I would rather not be doing a show during that time. Also, I can't stand one of the cast members. So no plays for me for a while. Judgment at Nuremberg ends 6/11 so I'll be free to watch tv and play video games in my free time after that.
I applied to take the mailman test recently. I should be getting the paperwork in the mail soon. They don't offer the tests all the time, just when they are hiring at the US post service. So I may become a mail man. A Mail Mandy.... ho ha ho. If that doesn't make me a spinster for life, I don't know what will. But at least I'll have benefits forever and make a decent living. I took the sample test and it is pretty easy for someone like me. It is all speed and accuracy and memorization. I am a wizard at anything involving those three things.
I have not seen any good movies lately or gotten any new music lately. I have been playing pikmin 2, which is really fun for people who like repetitive puzzle like games and pretty graphics. Like me. I have been watching the first 2 seasons of Mr. Show which is pretty funny. I've got the next few discs coming in the mail soon. And my brother bought the dvd of Firefly, which was a short lived sci-fi western show created by Joss Whedon, the guy that created Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It is pretty good and I recommend it to dorks.
What else.... hmmm... My friends becky and trish are both in japan right now but they don't know each other. I got two postcards from japan in one week from them and I felt like I know very interesting people especially since they are independent of each other. My friend Steve has been in France but is back now. It would have been neat if I got a postcard from france and japan but steven is not very thoughtfull when it comes to postcards. And Justin and Alicia were in Ireland recently so I am very jealous of everbody I know since I haven't even ever been out of the country. I am such a loser. My little nephew jack is still very cute though a little bit more unruly as he is now 2 1/2 years old. He is still my favorite until this other one does something cute.
Oh, and I should spend sometime on health related matters since this is supposed to be a blog about my diabetesness. I have been getting dizzy spells all the time and it is really disconcerting but I'll be seeing my doctor on friday and so I'll know then if I am dying.
Well, I'm off to the Robot Parts Factory.

Kolchak
Justin Byrne to me
It just won't be the same: A remake of the shortlived 1970s occult series "Kolchak: The Night Stalker" is also among the three new dramas and two comedies ABC said Tuesday it will introduce in the fall.
My poor nephew. People are going to think he is named after some stupid remake of a tv show and they won't even know about the original. Crazy. I hope it is good.
Apparently Stuart Townsend is playing Kolchak. He was boyfriends with Charlize Theron. Maybe she'll guest star as a vampire. That would be awsome!!!!

Reviewing the Situation.
The title of this blog entry is a reference to the musical "Oliver!" for all you musical theater ignorami out there. It has a double meaning in this context, however, since I will now be discussing two movies I've seen recently. I did see the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy as planned and I enjoyed it. Apparently I am the only one in the world. My dad had these words to say about the film, "On a scale of 1 to 10, I give it a -2. Don't waste your money. - Moif" (he calls himself Moif) and also "Stinky stinky movie - don't bother seeing it." I got these messages after I had already seen it. My dad is a big fan of the books. He used to play the radio show of it in his classroom when I was in highschool. Also, they did a television miniseries sort of thing on it that he had on video and he would play it over the lunch hour once a year so dorks could congregate and feel like they were part of something bigger, something larger than the quad and the football team and lockers and cafeterias and whatnot.
I actually liked the movie but I can see where he would be disappointed. He didn't like the graphic artsy style they used for the guide. I did. He didn't like the actor who played Arthur Dent. I love him. He thought the casting of Mos Def as Ford Prefect was stupid. I like Mos Def. And on and on. At least he laughed at the funniest scene which involves people getting hit about the head neck and chest which my mom thought was stupid. My mom thought marvin the robot was "too cute" and not depressed enough. I thought his robot form was sort of dumpy and roundish and suited him well. She hated trillion. I really like whats-her-name that played her. I think they both mostly had a problem with the casting and the fact that it wasn't the way they had imagined it. Which, duh, always happens.
This last weekend I saw Kingdom of Heaven, which may have been a better movie than The HGTTG, but I still didn't enjoy it as much. I do like that Orlando Bloom though. And Liam Nieson wasn't in it enough. The bad guy in it was really good. Good at being BAD! He was like Billy Zane meets Russell Crowe. More Billy Zane than Russell Crowe. Which is to say, more cheesy and overactory. Which I like. All in all, I give it 3 out of 5 stars, mostly because it was very beautiful.
I also recently rewatched Jackass:The Movie with my dad and brother.
That movie is a classic. An instant classic. Brilliant. 6 out of 5 stars.
Here is a link to the play I'm in that opens this weekend for anyone interested. judgment at Nuremberg

Boy Oh Boy
Boy Oh Boy, when you put things it writing and in a medium like this it sure is apparent how little you actually have to say for yourself. Or myself. I find that the things I think to write about are things I've already complained about in previous posts or things that I don't feel comfortable revealing en mass. You know what I'm saying? Work is still tiresome and by turns tedious and stressfull. I did get to see my preggers sister recently and it is weird seeing her with this thing growing from out of her. My nephew asked if the baby could peak out at him. He is impatient. I'm going to take a week off in june after this play is over and visit with my new neice, Armageddon. Armageddon Adams. Adnama Adams. Adrenal Adenoma Adams. Acidosis Adams! Acute Angina Adams. Cutey, for short. I think my favorite now is Amaryllis.
I am looking forward to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy opening this weekend. It has my boyfriend Tim from The Office in it.
He is my favorite pasty funny looking actor.
Rehearsals for Judgement at Nuremburg are going quite well. My german accent is very good according to our dialect coach person. We had a run through of the entire show on tuesday and the Director said it is the first show she can remember being involved in where everyone was off book, had their lines and blocking down, a full 2 weeks before we open. The show opens on 5/11, which seems like a long time from now but is really pretty soon. I feel very confident that this show will go off without a hitch but you never know. One of the actors could up and die. Who knows.
My mother and father are both 60 years old now ask of April 25th and March 15th respectively. That makes me old and my brother and sister even older.
Has anyone been watching that end of days show on nbc? Or am I the only dork who likes that crap? I have always harbored a deep respect and admiration for Bill Pullman so I could hardly not watch it. What a man. I like the guy who plays the evil demon guy in jail. He is like the Poor Man's Willem Defoe. Fantastic.
What video game should I buy? I need a new one so bad. So Bad!!!!!
Oh, and Christian Bale had a baby with some broad. Congratulations, Christian Bale.

Remember how I what I was saying about how I wanted to go back to college?
This song is from Avenue Q. It is a musical about 20-something post college puppets and how hard and meaningless their life is. And Gary Coleman is in it. Actually, a black woman playing gary coleman as the superintendent of the building they all live in on avenue q. It is very funny.KATE MONSTER:
I wish I could go back to college.
Life was so simple back then.
NICKY:
What would I give to go back and live in a dorm with a meal plan again!
PRINCETON:
I wish I could go back to college.
In college you know who you are.
You sit in the quad, and think, "Oh my God!
I am totally gonna go far!"
ALL:
How do I go back to college?
I don't know who I am anymore!
PRINCETON:
I wanna go back to my room and find a message in dry-erase pen on the door!
Ohhh...
I wish I could just drop a class...
NICKY:
Or get into a play...
KATE MONSTER:
Or change my major...
PRINCETON:
Or fuck my T.A.
ALL:
I need an academic advisor to point the way!
We could be...
Sitting in the computer lab,
4 A.M. before the final paper is due,
Cursing the world 'cause I didn't start sooner,
And seeing the rest of the class there, too!
PRINCETON:
I wish I could go back to college!
ALL:
How do I go back to college?!
AHHHH...
PRINCETON:
I wish I had taken more pictures.
NICKY:
But if I were to go back to college,
Think what a loser I'd be-
I'd walk through the quad,
And think "Oh my God..."
ALL:
"These kids are so much younger than me."
yes, it is a good show.

A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men.
I've been watching Willy Wonka a lot lately. My nephew likes it. He can't say Willy Wonka though, too many L's. He calls it charley bucket movie. Which is as good a name as any. Anywho, I have just been amazed at how many great lines there are in that movie. It is just so well written. If you haven't seen it recently, or god forbid at all (shudder), go out and get it. I happen to own it, so I can watch it whenever the mood strikes me. I am very much looking forward to the johnny depathon willy wonkathon movie coming out soon but I know that it will probably not be what I expect. It may be better or worse than I expect, but not what I expect. I can't wait. The suspense is terrible, I hope it lasts.
This is a picture of me in my new play, Judgement at Nuremberg. You may notice a striking resemblance to judy garland, but that is done with makeup.
Good acting, huh. I was really stressed about this play yesterday. Actually, for about a week I've been thinking about not doing it at all because I was worried that I wasn't going to be able to do what the director wanted me to do. I thought she wanted me to get all blubbery and emotional and It is really hard to do that 5 times a week for 5 weeks straight. Last night I had my 2nd rehearsal and apparently I am doing just fine. So I feel much better. It is very hard for me to read this director. I can't tell if I am headed in the right direction half the time and she is all for letting you make your own choices which is great but you still need feedback. I got good feedback finally. My other play is still going. The audiences have been bigger and I have been getting applause at the end of all my scenes and monologues which is always nice.
I've compiled some of my favorite willy wonka lines here on my blogometer. Enjoy!
Willy Wonka: Oh, well then you know all about it and what a terrible country it is. Nothing but desolate wastes and fierce beasts. And the poor little Oompa Loompas were so small and helpless, they would get gobbled up right and left. A Wangdoodle would eat ten of them for breakfast and think nothing of it. And so, I said, "Come and live with me in peace and safety, away from all the Wangdoodles and Hornswogglers and Snozzwangers and rotten Vermicious Knids."
Mr. Salt: Snozzwangers? Vermicious Knids? What kind of rubbish is that?
Willy Wonka :I'm sorry, but all questions must be submitted in writing. And so, in the greatest of secrecy I transported the entire population of Oompa Loompas to my factory here.
Willy Wonka: Invention, my dear friends, is 93% perspiration, 6% electricity, 4% evaporation, and 2% butterscotch ripple.
Mrs. Teevee: That's 105 percent.
Willy Wonka Little surprises around every corner, but nothing dangerous.
Willy Wonka Oh, you should never, never doubt what nobody is sure about. [Willy Wonka walks down the hall which gets shorter as it goes on in the skewed perspective room]
[Noticing signs on vats] Mr. Salt :Wonka. Butterscotch? Buttergin? You running something on the side here?
Willy Wonka Candy is dandy, but liquor is quicker.
Willy Wonka Where is fancy bred, in the heart or in the head?
Veruca Salt Snozzberry? Who ever heard of a snozzberry?
Willy Wonka [grabs Veruca's chin] We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of the dreams.
Willy Wonka So shines a good deed in a weary world.
Willy Wonka : A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men.
Tinker : Up the airy mountain, down the rushing glen, we dare not go a hunting, for fear of little men. You see, nobody ever goes in and nobody ever comes out.
Willy Wonka : No other factory in the world mixes its chocolate by waterfall. But it's the only way if you want it just... right.
Willy Wonka : The suspense is terrible... I hope it lasts.
Willy Wonka : There's no earthly way of knowing / Which direction we are going / There's no knowing where we're rowing / Or which way the river's flowing / Is it raining? / Is it snowing? / Is a hurricane a-blowing? / Not a speck of light is showing / So the danger must be growing / Are the fires of hell a-glowing? / Is the grisly reaper mowing? / Yes, the danger must be growing / 'Cause the rowers keep on rowing / And they're certainly not showing / Any signs that they are slowing.
Willy Wonka: If the good Lord had intended us to walk he wouldn't have invented roller-skates.
Willy Wonka: So much time and so little to do. Wait a minute. Strike that. Reverse it.
Willy Wonka: And Charlie: don't forget what happened to the man who suddenly got everything he'd ever wished for.
Charlie Bucket: What happened?
Willy Wonka : He lived happily ever after.
Willy Wonka: All I ask is for a tall ship and a star to sail her by. All aboard everybody.
Willy Wonka: [singing] In springtime, the only pretty ring time, birds sing hey ding, a-ding, a-ding. Sweet lovers love the spring.
Violet Beauregarde: [while sticking her finger up her nose & digging] . Spitting's a nasty habit.
Willy Wonka: [Glaring at her] I know a worse one.
Willy Wonka: Well... Two naughty, nasty little children gone... Three good, sweet little children left.
Mrs. Gloop : Don't just stand there do something.
Willy Wonka: [sarcastically] Help. Police. Murder.
Mrs. Gloop: Aye. Mr. Wonka help I'm getting squooshed.
Willy Wonka: Is it my soul that calls me by my name?

I liked this guy
Mitch Hedberg
I bought a doughnut and they gave me a receipt for the doughnut. I don't need a receipt for the doughnut - I'll just give you money and you give me the doughnut. End of transaction. We don't need to bring ink and paper into this. I can't imagine a scenario in which I would need to prove that I bought a doughnut. Some skeptical friend... don’t even act like I didn't buy a doughnut, I've got the documentation right here. Oh wait, it's back home in the file... under "D", for doughnut.
I rent a lot of cars, y'know, cuz I go on the road. I rent cars. And when I drive a rental car I don't know what's going on with it, right? So a lot of time I drive, like, for 10 miles with the emergency brake on. That doesn't say a lot for me, but it really doesn't say a lot for the emergency brake. It's really not an emergency brake, it's an emergency make-the-car-smell-funny lever.
Y'know, you can't please all the people all the time... and last night, all those people were at my show.
I had a bag of Fritos. They were Texas Grilled Fritos. These Fritos had grill marks on them. Hell yeah. Reminds me of summer time, when we used to fire up the barbeque and throw down some Fritos. I can still see my dad with the apron on. 'Better flip that Frito, Dad. You know how I like mine.
I like cinnamon rolls. That's why I wish they made, like, a cinnamon roll incense. 'Cause I don't always have time to make a pan. Perhaps I'd rather light a stick, and have my roommates wake up with false hopes.
I like vending machines, because snacks are better when they fall. If I buy a candy bar at the store oftentimes I will drop it, so that it achieves its maximum flavor potential.
I opened up a container of yogurt, and under the lid it said "Please Try Again" because they were having a contest I was unaware of. But I thought I might have opened the yogurt wrong, or maybe Yoplait was trying to inspire me. 'C'mon, Mitchell, don't give up. Please try again. A message of inspiration from your friends at Yoplait. Fruit on the bottom, hope on top.'
I think foosball is a combination of soccer and shish kabobs.
I think pickles are cucumbers that sold out. They sold their soul to the devil, and the devil is dill.
I think Pringles' initial intention was to make tennis balls. But on the day that the rubber was supposed to show up, a big truckload of potatoes arrived. But Pringles was a laid-back company. They said "Fuck it. Cut 'em up."
I saw a six pack of soda-pop for $1.20. That price fucks with your head, man. Because then I thought that I would start selling soda-pop. Suddenly I got things of pop with me. "What's going on, Mitch?" "Not much, looking to buy some pop? Fifty cents a can. It's not refrigerated because this is a half-assed commitment."
If carrots got you drunk, rabbits would be fucked up.
That would be cool if you could eat a good food with a bad food and the good food would cover for the bad food when it got to your stomach. Like, you could eat a carrot with an onion ring and they would travel down to your stomach, then they would get there, and the carrot would say, "It's cool, he's with me."
You know they call corn on the cob, corn on the cob, but that's how it comes out of the ground, man. They should call that corn, they should call every other version corn off the cob. It's not like if you cut off my arm you would call it Mitch. Then reattach it and call me Mitch-all-together...
I like swiss cheese. It's the only cheese you can draw with a pencil and identify.
(After replugging in his microphone) I hate puzzles.
He died the other day. At 37. Not 27, but pretty close. I think he died of drugs. Like Bob Dylan. I'm outta heeeeeaaaare.

If I could go back to college, why I'd...
I could go back to college. I might.
If I did, I would try to "Glom on" better to the people who I think are really smart and talented. Of course, sometimes the ones that surprise you, that are not so obviously and instantly recognized as smart and talented end up being the ones that make movies with alexander payne. And others just hang on forever to college life because they can be as creative and talented as they want without having to work that hard at it. I am most jealous of these folks. Some of them work really hard and go to New York and actually work fairly steadily in the Bidness and meet smart and talented greek girls to marry. Still others just get married and leave it at that. My point is, what the hell am I doing here??????? I need to start a commune or a cult and surround myself with people I like and then brainwash them into never leaving to start their own real lives. Who's with me? I'll get you into heaven.
In retrospect, I didn't work hard enough. Or at all. But anyone could've told you that about me a long time ago.
What about more student loans? I could do that. More student loans and insurance through the state. They could support my ass while I better myself. Just because you are poor and old and have diabetes doesn't mean you don't deserve a 2nd chance at a decent education and job, right? right?

Happy Birthday, Brother! Happy Rising from the Dead, Jesus!
Well, I got through the opening of my show, The Boy Who Talks to Whales. The opening was a little less than stellar. Not a big audience on any of the nights. My parents and grandma came yesterday and they seemed to like it. At least, that's what they told me. My brother's boss at the Ashland Daily Tidings wrote a really stinky review. The review wasn't really bad for the show, just not written very well. I'd link to it but it isn't on their website. My biggest problem is that it only mentions 3 people from the show by name and that is a big no no for theater reviews. He even goes so far as to say that one scene is the strongest and best scene but fails to mention the guy in that scene who pulls the whole thing off hilariously. And he failed to mention the name of his reporter's sister, which I think defeats the whole purpose of living in a small town and having a brother who works for a newspaper.
My new play, Judgement at Nuremberg, has had a read through and will start with real rehearsals next Saturday. The cast has been emailing back and forth information and thoughts and good references regarding the holocaust and the trials, etc. It is kinda neat. I think all plays should do this with their cast and crew because it gets you thinking before you just have to jump into memorizing lines and blocking.
My friend from Humboldt State, Andy Rydzewski, sent me a DVD he made this last Christmas for his friends and family on the east coast, and some on the west coast. It was pretty funny, parts of it. One too many jokes about weed and getting high, but other than that, pretty funny. It made me feel a wave of nostalgia for humboldt county and I'm thinking of going over to visit maybe in may when I'm done with Nuremberg. I don't know if I still know very many people over there but it would be nice just to visit the town and campus and the ocean again. It looked so magical and wonderful on the dvd. I wish I could send it to all my humboldt friends pre-rydzewski. Like Steve (who has a man-crush on andy) and justin and alicia, etc. Actually, I might be able to do that now with my brothers new computer. His friend sold it to him and it has all this crap on it that I'm not even sure what it is all for but I wonder if it can burn dvdemups.... hmmm.....
April showers bring May flowers. Happy April Fools day, if I don't post until after then. Which is entirely possible.
Hey, you have a white crow on your head. April Fools!

It's been a long, long.... long time.
I have been soooo busy lately. I just have a few unmentionables to mention. Firstly, I saw Shaun of the Dead this last weekend and it is a fun movie and I recommend it.
A#2 is that my big musical opens next week and the show is coming together nicely, thank you very much. I am having more fun with this show than I've had in a long time doing this theater this crap. In fact, I'm having a WHALE of a time. The show opens next week and we have 4 weekends of performances during which I'll have started rehearsing for judgment at Nuremberg. I don't know if I mentioned here that I'll be doing that next and it opens in may and runs for 4 or 5 weekends. The first rehearsal for that is this next Sunday the 20th. So I don't have time for the likes you, my dear readers. Did anyone read any of the Oz books? Frank L. Baum would always have a letter to his readers in the beginning the book that would kind of update them on the comings and goings of the Ozians. I always thought that was really nice.
My dad turned 60 yesterday and my brother will turn 38 in a couple weeks. Babies are going to be born soon and in april my grandmother and mother will be turning 60 and 87 but not necessarily in that order. In July I'll be turning 27 which is the age of so many rock star deaths. I was hoping someone could tell me who all died at 27 because I was trying to remember the other day when I was talking to my parents about getting older.
I've been missing american idol and lost every week but I usually get home in time to watch the last half hour of House. This is a doctor show. It is worth checking out because the guy who plays house is awsome.
I've been playing X-Men on my gamecube and I think it is stupid.
My brother got a computer so we should be getting internet access soon and I'll be able to get on line at home. Oh happy day.
My little nephew jack is still very cute.

Coerced Post
My sister thinks I owe her a post once a week. I disagree. I really don't have anything to say so I'll just have to make something up to talk about. Hmmm...How about music I like? Or movies I like. Or books. I could make a list of things I like but that is something marigold would do and I would feel like I was ripping her off. I guess I could just rip her off completely and write a letter to my 16 year old self that would make my sister cry but I honestly don't think my 16 year old self would be surprised at all at where I am today. Well, maybe my 16 year old self would be but not my 17 year old self. She wouldn't be surprised in the least. I could write a letter to my 6 year old self that would be all about not being a ballerina and about how yreka really isn't the greatest place on earth and that the wicked witch is not coming to get me but still, that's not that different from me writing a letter to myself now. I would say that I am sorry I don't have a dog and that I'm sorry I never really learned how to swim.
I could make a list of things I hate but I think I did that a couple weeks ago and I don't have much to add. I will say that I love survivor, lost, and american idol. I live for little else.

Oldies but Goodies
So I've taken a couple strolls down memory lane lately. Firstly, by spending a week in Yreka at my parents house sans 'rents looking at old crap in boxes. Secondly, by seeing 2 old friends from highschool last night as well as running into a college aquaintance in ashland. Last night I went to see a play at the Shakespeare festival with Trish Kimbell and Pete Townley both of whom are doing very well and yet are still drawn to Yreka inexplicably. Yreka is, as my dad always says, and as pete drunkenly pointed out last night, "God's Country." Even the athiest that I am, I have to agree that it is very nice. Here is an example:
My friend trish is actually making a living as a performer/teacher which is exciting. She gets to travel a lot and I'm pretty jealous of that but sort of not envious because I would go crazy being on the road all time. Pete is living in Yreka right near my parents and working for the government doing top secret conservation/agriculture stuff and most likely saving the world in ways I'll never understand. But they both seem to have a lot of passion for their careers which I am very jealous of. Oh, and since marigold thinks I should talk more about diabetes in this blog, I'll mention that Pete's little sister also has diabetes so it is interesting to talk to him since he kind of knows first hand what it is all about. Usually I have to explain how it works and I found myself listening to him explain it to trish which was nice. She thought I didn't have diabetes anymore so pete and I got a good laugh out of that one. I also got to hear what some of my fellow Yreka High graduates are up to these days which is always interesting.
On the way to the theater I ran in to Jen Belt who I went to college with and had some theater classes with. She is a very talented actress/writer amongst other things and it was a pleasant surprise to see her again and to meet her husband. She used to date my friend andy rydzewski when she lived in humboldt so she was sort of my friends girlfriend who I never really got to know because I am a horrible bitch. We saw a play called Room Service which was very funny and slapsticky although I was disappointed because there was an ottoman right in front of one of the entrance that not one person tripped over during the entire show. Why did they put it there if no one was going to trip over it? Huh? Eh? What is up with that, yo?
Also, I got news the other day that I got a part in Judgement at Nuremberg that will start when the whale show is over. I get to play Maria Wallner, the character judy garland played in the movie. It is a very good part with a couple of very intense courtroom scenes. I'm pretty excited about it. One of the other actors is Jeff Golden who is this extrememly liberal local radio guy on jefferson public radio who my grandmother and brother worship like a god. They are so jealous of me.
So you have all my news.

The Almighty Truth
I guess the truth is I don't have much to say. I thought it was a matter of time and accessability that led to my few and far between posts but I'm thinking now that I just really don't do much that inspires me to write about it. I did get a part in the musical afterall. I have to drive up to ashland tomorrow and do a read through. Here is the theater's website if you want to check it out.
oregon stage works
I'll be paying Regina who is a kick ass bitch reporter. It is the fun part so I'm glad to do it. It'll be less work too. Fewer lines, only one song. But I'll get more out of it than playing a mother role. Mothers are sort of stupid. Unless they are mother fuckers! right? right?
Happy valentines day, by the way. Where are all my flowers and candies?
I black history month and presidents day.

auditions
I forgot that I hadn't mentioned anything since I last posted about my audition. It went very well and I most likely have a part but they haven't called me back since the day after I auditioned. They called me to let me know that I will probably be in the show but that they don't know what part I would play. That was over a week ago. Maybe they found someone they liked better. I don't know. I have to call them back before tuesday because that is when they were going to have the read through. Theater people are fucking flakey assed mother fuckers though, so I'm not really that worried. My other audition is for the season at the camelot theater where I did the last show. I'll be auditioning for like 6 shows at once. That should be fun. Fun like a hole in my head.
Actually, I like auditioning.

Excuses
Steve wondered why I don't post very often in a comment recently. The reason is because I do most of my blogging afterwork at a coffee place or at the library and sometimes at work which is bad. And I feel guilty for it. So guilty, in fact, that I inadvertently recommended that my boss add spyware to my computer at work. I don't know how it happened really, all I know is that one minute I was asking her questions about web access at work and the next minute she was answering my questions by showing my how our spyware works and then showing me how to install it and then installing it on my computer. Oh well. It is for the best, really. I shouldn't blog at work and I shouldn't read other people's blogs at work. I don't have a computer at home but that all may be solved soon because my brother's coworker is selling him his for really cheap because he is an alltech kind of guy who needs the newest shit all the time. So I may be able to post more frequently. In fact, this week I expect a lot of blogging since I am in Yreka for the week with no working at all. I'm very excited. All this guilt and anxiety at work would also be solved if I took marigold's advice and got another job which hopefull I'll be able to work on this week too. Nothing makes me feel more guilty than looking for and applying for jobs at work, both of which I have done in the past couple of weeks.
The real problem, I think, is that I am a stimulus whore. I have to have constant stimuli and at work I sometimes need to be reading the news when I answer phones and make appointments. I have the least amount of errors and the most productivity compared with my coworkers according to my boss so I don't think it really effects my job but it does make me feel guilty. all the time.
So in addition to making up shit to write about here and looking for a job, I have several other projects to work on this weekend. I have to pick a song and monologue to do for another audition on saturday and then I have to work on them. I brought all my CD's so I can make some kick ass mixed CD's for myself because I enjoy doing that. I also brought my gamecube and some piano music so I can learn to play the piano again and play my new lord of the rings game. Every minute will be accounted for. My parents have an endless supply of magazines and I brought a couple books. The only thing I don't have are movies but I can watch tv and rent a movie if I want to.
Also, currently my brother and I are obsessed with Tenacious D. I got 2 dvd's from netflix with live stuff and their hbo stuff and some videos. My brother is especially obsessed with the song Tribute and plays it over and over and over again. Just before and after this part especially.
It is pretty awsome and I recommend it heartily to all and sundry.

Unmentionables
I forgot to mention, mainly for steve's benefit, that my favorite musical family, the Wainwrights, were all featured in the Aviator. First Rufus, then Loudon the III, and then little martha. All singing old timey type songs at the coconut grove. It was interesting and almost disturbing since I thought I was all underground and stuff with my love of loudon and martha(everybody likes rufus), but I guess if they are all in the biggest movie of the year I am just very cutting edge but not really very cool. Oh well. Also, remember when I was complaining about musical theater hell? I have an audition today for another musical and it has kids in it again so I am either a glutton for punishment or I don't know what. I'm pretty excited, though. It'll be a bigger part then the show I was in and a smaller cast, which will be nice. The show is called The Boy Who Talked to Whales.
It sounds very sweet, doesn't it? I got a call out of the blue yesterday from the woman who choreographed the last one and she really likes me. I don't think I am shoe-in necessarily but I think I have a very good shot at a part. I'm not looking forward to more rehearsals, however, especially now that American Idol is back on. I love that shit so much.

Good News and Bad News
Well the good news is, my job decided not to change our insurance plan just yet. It was too soon and the doctors also said that it was unfair to change it suddenly without giving us all time to prepare for the change. The bad news is that I still kind of can't stand this job and they are going to change it most likely in july so I am still going to try to get a job somewhere else in the mean time.
In entertainment news, I saw the aviator this weekend. I liked it. I really liked Kate Blanchett but Leonardo is just such a little boy still. He has a little boy voice and a baby face. He is very interesting to watch though. I do like him and I did like the movie. My two favorite parts were the courtroom scene with alan alda and the beverly hills plane crash scene. Howard Hughes was totally awsome!!!!
I am taking a vacation in Yreka so you can expect quite a few posts during the week of 2/14 through 2/18. If anybody reading this wants to take a vacation during this time, my parents are gone so we can totally have a party at my house. Its the best kind of vacation because I get out of my house and go to a better house, for free, with cable and a computer and the internet and free food and I'll bring my game cube and my books and I'll do nothing but entertain myself and drool for a whole week while my parents are in LA going to disneyland and generally LA-ing it up, LA style. I love Yreka sometimes. If you ever want to go somewhere where no one will know where you are or care, go to Yreka. But if you are expecting to visit the Yreka Bakery, you are out of luck because no such palindromic establishment actually exists despite the crazy money making machine it would be what with all the palindromophiles out there. And by that I mean you, Steve.
I think I'll try to kick my caffeine habit during that week. Yes! Yes, that would be an excellent idea. Whenever I see Yes! Yes! written just like that I am reminded of a kurt vonnegut character who, if I can remember right, was the elevator operator in Cat's Cradle and would grab his own ass and yell "Yes! Yes!" when he agreed with something whole heartedly. Isn't that what he would do?

stupid fucking world
So my job is going to change our insurance. I've worked here for less than 2 years and this will be the 3rd time we've changed. This time is definately the shitty shits though. Right now I have a 500$ deductable which means I have to pay 500$ out of pocket and then my isurance kicks in and starts paying 80% of my office visits. I have a copay for dr's visits and medications. In the last 6 months I've shelled out about 600$ total for prescriptions and dr's visits and labs. They want to change our plan to a 1500 dollar deductable with a health savings plan to help us pay for it by allowing us to put money in a medical savings plan tax free. We already have something like this called a flexible spending account or cafeteria plan. I put money in, tax free, from my paycheck and then when I spend 100 dollars on prescriptions I get reimbursed for that 100 dollars even if I haven't put 100 dollars in the account yet. So basically all this new plan is doing is changing my deductable from 500$ to 1500$. I worked it out, after looking at my statements from my insurance as to what they were billed and what they payed and I was able to see what I would have had to pay if I was on this plan for the last 6 months. I would have had to pay almost 1800 dollars. It would triple my out of pocket expenses in just 6 months. Let alone a year. Let alone vision and dental. One of the women at work is pregnant. She is due in may. This will start in february. Because the deductable for family is 3000 and her husband will be on hers since he has no insurance, she will have to pay 3000 dollars of her own money before they start paying for her pregnancy. She didn't plan on this when she got pregnant and hasn't been planning for it since she got pregnant. Now she has 4 months to save up for having her baby. And she doesn't get paid a lot. Probably 13 or 14 dollars an hour at the most. Another coworker of mine has MS. Her medications cost 1300 dollars monthly without insurance. Not to mention doctor's appts and labs. And occasional visits to the er when she loses the feeling in her legs. I'm getting my resume together this evening after work.

predictions
I was going to put down a list of american idol top 10 predictions from last night but I got sidetracked with all the crappy people and they cryers and all I wrote down was "girl with udders is good" and "Anwar" So maybe after the next few episodes I'll have a more definitive list of people who I think will go all the way. You see, the last three years I knew from the 2nd I saw them that the people who went all the way would go all the way but I didn't tell anyone so I couldn't claim that I knew. But I knew. So this year I'm going to post it for everyone to see.

Musical Comedy Hell Over At Last!!!
Steve and Marigold's recent posts were so incredibly depressing that I just couldn't resist posting something about my miserable life. At least I'm not married though. God would that suck. I finally finished the show I've been doing. I am at my gramma's house in ashland right now waiting to head over to the cast party. I'm planning on staying for a little bit and then going to a movie. A very long engagement is playing at the varsity here in Ashland. All the cool movies play here. Kinsey is playing at 6:50 so I'll probably go see that. Yeah.
The point is, I hate parties. I hate them so much. I am so awkward and uncomfortable and at the same time aloof and snooty. I look at people like I have no idea what to say to them but I hope they don't start talking to me because I couldn't care less about whatever it is they are going to talk about. And I don't really like drinking very much so I can't even drink my awkward loathing away.

Brad, Jen, what about the beautiful babies???
I just realized just how long its been since I posted anything. Jeez. I had this interesting dream last night that I was visiting Portland, checking things out, and I went to this great place called Sub Pop. From the outside I thought it was just a vintage clothing store but it looked really big. It was a vintage clothes store but it also sold posters and music and all sorts of "cool" stuff. But the best part was in the back there was this bar and it was called something clever that had to do with the tropics or islands or the sea or something and there were two really big canoes that you could sit in to have drinks and tables all around and it was all blue lighting like you were under water and a big band stand where they had this buddy holly kind of MC guy anouncing what this years spring fling would be like. Wasn't sub pop the label that nirvana was on? I know I've seen that before but this was like short for Submarine Pop I think. Or so my subconscious would lead me to believe. I would really like to go to go to a place like that. Maybe if I move to Portland I will find a place just like that and I will be so cool. I'll tell you one thing, that was a lot better than the dream I had a few nights ago that I had aids
What else.... hmmmm... Christmas was okay, I got presents. And some money. My nephew learned about santa clause. The day after Christmas there was a big snow storm and we had some trouble getting back from yreka over the hill to ashland. We had to stop and my brother had to put on chains because I'm just a girl. It took twice as long as it normally does but it was very pretty.
I'm still in this carnival play. I think this is the longest run of a play that I've ever been in. This is our 6th week coming up this weekend. 6th and last. I think that last play was 4 or 5 weeks long. But it is still fun at times. I have to wear clown makeup every night, however, and this is getting kind of old. And I am getting sort of irritated with some of the cast members.
I am reading the 3rd book of Robert Jordan's Wheel of time series and I recommend it to any fantasy dorks. It is pretty good crap. I've been listening to a lot of david bowie lately because I saw The Life Aquatic and I loved it so much but for me the best part was the acoustic portugese david bowie songs. If anyone has seen City of God, the actor who played knockout ned in that is the guy who sings all the songs in the life aquatic and I love him. I found this funny picture of him.
I also love willem defoe, and the guy from harold and maude. I'm so glad wes anderson put him in a movie because it is like poetic justice in some way. Harold and Maude IS wes anderson. Wes Anderson IS Harold and Maude. I've also been listening to the soundtrack to Avenue Q, a sesame street knockoff on broadway where the puppets say bad words and sing about being gay. It is very funny.
I also saw finding neverland and national treasure recently, both of which I enjoyed, but one more than the other. Guess which one? I'll give you a clue, I read The Illuminatus! Trilogy : The Eye in the Pyramid, The Golden Apple and Leviathan when I was 15.
Hey, does anyone know what the time frame on this will and johanna wedding is? Is it going to be in like a year or 2 years or some distance future date beyond my comprehension? I'm planning my life around their nuptials.
