Happy Birthday, Brother! Happy Rising from the Dead, Jesus!

Well, I got through the opening of my show, The Boy Who Talks to Whales. The opening was a little less than stellar. Not a big audience on any of the nights. My parents and grandma came yesterday and they seemed to like it. At least, that's what they told me. My brother's boss at the Ashland Daily Tidings wrote a really stinky review. The review wasn't really bad for the show, just not written very well. I'd link to it but it isn't on their website. My biggest problem is that it only mentions 3 people from the show by name and that is a big no no for theater reviews. He even goes so far as to say that one scene is the strongest and best scene but fails to mention the guy in that scene who pulls the whole thing off hilariously. And he failed to mention the name of his reporter's sister, which I think defeats the whole purpose of living in a small town and having a brother who works for a newspaper.

My new play, Judgement at Nuremberg, has had a read through and will start with real rehearsals next Saturday. The cast has been emailing back and forth information and thoughts and good references regarding the holocaust and the trials, etc. It is kinda neat. I think all plays should do this with their cast and crew because it gets you thinking before you just have to jump into memorizing lines and blocking.

My friend from Humboldt State, Andy Rydzewski, sent me a DVD he made this last Christmas for his friends and family on the east coast, and some on the west coast. It was pretty funny, parts of it. One too many jokes about weed and getting high, but other than that, pretty funny. It made me feel a wave of nostalgia for humboldt county and I'm thinking of going over to visit maybe in may when I'm done with Nuremberg. I don't know if I still know very many people over there but it would be nice just to visit the town and campus and the ocean again. It looked so magical and wonderful on the dvd. I wish I could send it to all my humboldt friends pre-rydzewski. Like Steve (who has a man-crush on andy) and justin and alicia, etc. Actually, I might be able to do that now with my brothers new computer. His friend sold it to him and it has all this crap on it that I'm not even sure what it is all for but I wonder if it can burn dvdemups.... hmmm.....

April showers bring May flowers. Happy April Fools day, if I don't post until after then. Which is entirely possible.

Hey, you have a white crow on your head. April Fools!
