The title of this blog entry is a reference to the musical "Oliver!" for all you musical theater ignorami out there. It has a double meaning in this context, however, since I will now be discussing two movies I've seen recently. I did see the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy as planned and I enjoyed it. Apparently I am the only one in the world. My dad had these words to say about the film, "On a scale of 1 to 10, I give it a -2. Don't waste your money. - Moif" (he calls himself Moif) and also "Stinky stinky movie - don't bother seeing it." I got these messages after I had already seen it. My dad is a big fan of the books. He used to play the radio show of it in his classroom when I was in highschool. Also, they did a television miniseries sort of thing on it that he had on video and he would play it over the lunch hour once a year so dorks could congregate and feel like they were part of something bigger, something larger than the quad and the football team and lockers and cafeterias and whatnot.
I actually liked the movie but I can see where he would be disappointed. He didn't like the graphic artsy style they used for the guide. I did. He didn't like the actor who played Arthur Dent. I love him. He thought the casting of Mos Def as Ford Prefect was stupid. I like Mos Def. And on and on. At least he laughed at the funniest scene which involves people getting hit about the head neck and chest which my mom thought was stupid. My mom thought marvin the robot was "too cute" and not depressed enough. I thought his robot form was sort of dumpy and roundish and suited him well. She hated trillion. I really like whats-her-name that played her. I think they both mostly had a problem with the casting and the fact that it wasn't the way they had imagined it. Which, duh, always happens.
This last weekend I saw Kingdom of Heaven, which may have been a better movie than The HGTTG, but I still didn't enjoy it as much. I do like that Orlando Bloom though. And Liam Nieson wasn't in it enough. The bad guy in it was really good. Good at being BAD! He was like Billy Zane meets Russell Crowe. More Billy Zane than Russell Crowe. Which is to say, more cheesy and overactory. Which I like. All in all, I give it 3 out of 5 stars, mostly because it was very beautiful.
I also recently rewatched Jackass:The Movie with my dad and brother.
That movie is a classic. An instant classic. Brilliant. 6 out of 5 stars.
Here is a link to the play I'm in that opens this weekend for anyone interested. judgment at Nuremberg

I really want to see Kingdom of Heaven, because I love Ridley Scott's visual style. He can make anything look beautiful. He could make a 3 hour movie about a garbageman's busiest day of the year (which is after Xmas) and I would eat it up.
I have a special, special treat for you, but you need to email me with your mailing address so that I can send it to you. You will shit a brick when you receive it, I kid you not. I am NOT a kid. email my name at gmail.com .
I will have to spent the whole freaking weekend at the movie thearer after I get out of this this Europe Hole.
Your Play poster/graphic is really, really, really terrible. Although, I'm sure you make up for it with your acting.
Yeah, that picture is pretty bad. That is just the press release picture though. The actual poster is better. I may be able to find the image somewhere. It isn't amazing, mind you. My brother said the other day, right before the press release was put out, "That picture they sent for your play is awful." So now there are 2 other people in the world who realize how crappy it is.
