Strange Times At SOU

The newspaper that my brother is an editor for broke this crazy story about a fellow student of mine. I'll link to the various articles but I'll give you the short version in case you are lazy. It totally reminds me of the movie Election. This student was running for Student Body President and on Thursday the school held a vigil for the victims of the Virginia Tech badness. She got up and apparently gave a very teary speech about how her cousin was one of the victims. Turns out, after the paper did some fact checking, that her cousin wasn't a victim. First she gave one name and then said that her cousin had to change it because she was in the Federal Witness Protection Program, which, to me, screams that she was lying. Then, she gave the name that her cousin is now using which was actually a name of one of the victims but still, was not her cousin. Here is the latest story that covers pretty much everything I just said:

Here is another that pretty much says the same thing but is by a different writer:

and here is the editorial about the whole thing that I think my brother might have written. I'm not sure about that though. It might have been his boss.

Weird, wild stuff.
