Said steam, steam, a hundred bad dreams, going up to harlem with a pistol in his jeans

I love it so much that this Jenny Lewis girl is the same person who was in Troop Beverly Hills and Wizard with little Kevin Arnold.

How great is that! And if you go to her site you can listen to her songs. I've heard a little bit of Rilo Kiley before and wasn't really into it but I really like some of the songs I've heard from this solo album. She reminds me a little of Elliot Smith.

Go see Tristram Shandy.

Don Knotts, Darren McGavin, and Mrs. Marigold. Always with the threes.

What is Tristam Shandy? Have you seen Grey Gardens? You guys should watch it. It is pretty weird but interesting in a very car-crashy kind of way.

Yes, we've seen Grey Gardens. It's good, but a trifle too exploitative for my tastes. For Maysles, I prefer Salesman. I love Salesman. Love it. Tristram Shandy is the Michael Winterbottom/Steve Coogan collaboration (if you don't know Steve Coogan, well, you already love him, I promise. If only for his scene in Coffee & Cigarettes with Alfred Molina). And I didn't know Rob Brydon, but I now love him. It's an adaptation of the first post-modern novel, before there was any modern to be post. I really dug it. Ailsa enjoyed it too.

Do you remember when Jack saw me changing Ailsa and asked, somewhat alarmed, "Where's her penis?"

love steve coogan, if only for the scene with him and alfred molina in coffee & cigarettes which was for the most part a shitty movie except for that scene and the scene with bill murray and the rza. And some other stuff. I just listened to a long interview with little edie, the flamboyant daughter, and the interviewer asked her some questions regarding the exploitative quality and neither she or her mother felt it was exploitative in any way and actually wanted it to be more exploitative and to have more scenes of them singing and dancing. that was their one critique of the whole project. she has seen all of the maysles movies and had before they made the film and "absolutely adores them" she is "maaaaaad about the maysles" so there you go.

I do remember jack saying that. Did you find it?

I haven't seen Gray Gardens but have wanted to for years. I did really really like "Salesman", that was so interesting slash depressing.

Darren McGavin dying really hit home, much more so than most celebrity deaths. He always reminded me of what my dad would be like in 20 years, we'll just have to see if it is accurate.

If I brought a camera into your house you and Myles would perform for it all day and all night. And then I'd gradually pan out to show the hovel in which you live. And I'd occasionally show glimpses of Jack, naked in the periphery, but never explain him.

I liked the part with Cate Blanchett and Cate Blanchett too. But other than those three segments it sucked. I can't understand how you could put Steven Wright and Roberto Benigni in the same room and not be at all funny. How does something like that happen?

I still haven't found Ailsa's penis. And I've misplaced mine too! Sheesh.

I got it off netflix, justin boyne. Sos you can too. But if myles and I saw the film and were totally like, Oh my god! You can't show that movie! That isn't what our life is like! But if we said, yeah, that's pretty much it. Great movie, go put in in theaters! The woman was asked in the interview to characterize what her life is really like and she said over and over again that it is pretty much like movie showed.

You and Myles have the presence of mind to see that what I'd show was crazy and disturbing. I think. You might say yeah totally show that anyway, of course. But poor little Edie, she's nutso.

In other news, Ailsa is nine months old!!!! We sang her happy birthday last night and she found it oh so very amusing. She's a chuckly girl.
